The location was excellent and lovely hard to reach up in the Mountains. And it was also short walk to which is the border between Portugal, Porto, and lovely gardens with stunning views...

The double room is warm and beautiful. Its location is excellent and stunning in-or adjacent to-the main manor house. There's Pret a Manger serving quick orders just next door to the hotel.

The location and the facilities (in the main building) are quite good. The building is very nice.
Some aspects were not up to par, for a four star hotel. There was a persistent sewage smell in the bathroom. The room heating was not available, although the wheather was already chilly, especially in the morning. The sofas in the room had the cloth worn, and the wadding was visible. One of the carpets in the room was rather dirty.

We got great value for our money at this really nice old place off the beaten track. The rooms were spacious and well furnished, and the location offered stunning views. The staff at the desk were friendly and the young lady at the bar spoke excellent English and gave us a great recommendation for a nearby pizza place.
Hotel breakfast could use some improvement by using local market products.

It's old world feel, location, views of the countryside and sense of an authentic portuguese experience. It's pool was also wonderful.
I was a little disappointed with the room condition and decor in the terraced new wing where we stayed which I thought needed to be updated. The wardrobes smelled musty so we didn't unpack our clothes.

Beautiful building and location with large, comfortable room. View is fantastic. Not within walking distance of much, but easy drive to some charming, touristy beach towns.
